There’s a word, wanderlust – to many it may mean travelling or exploring new places from time to time. But here’s a tattoo artist who takes wanderlust so seriously we couldn’t help but be star struck. Lil B Hernandez, who goes by the name, Lil B is a phenomenal black and grey artist who tours around the world and shares his experiences through ‘The Show’.
Why did we suddenly go bonkers about him? Well, that’s because we spotted an insane piece that he inked on banks of the Ganga. That’s right! Impressed by his work, when we dug our noses further in his business, we got to know that this artist works strictly on booking bases and doesn’t even disclose the location of his private studio in Bordeaux, France. So, how come he was in India? According to what he says on The Show, he wanted to fill his mind and heart with emotion and inspiration. The trip he made to India was for his heart and after we saw what he did when he was here, we totally take him for his word.
After landing in Delhi and exploring the heart and some spicy local food, Lil B and his team headed to Varanasi and when you’re on a trip to seek inspiration, what’s better than a riverside resonating with chants – whether you’re religious or not – Varanasi will take your breath away. Here’s the back piece that he made on the banks and it took our breath away.
As you can see, Lil B’s work is largely hovering around realism, but he cuts away from it as well, with his use of more graphical imagery, and in his own words, his single needle technique. This is him explaining how he works.
